By: Cindy Hu
Yesterday Stern Grove Festival, San Francisco’s favorite summer tradition, announced its 77th season of admission-free concerts, June 22-Aug. 24, 2014 at Sigmund Stern Grove, 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard.
The 2014 Season features an eclectic array of world-class performers from the Bay Area and beyond. This summer’s 10-week concerts series features:
Smokey Robinson and Patti Austin
Allen Stone and Yuna
Andrew Bird and The Hands of Glory
Funky Meters, Pupy y Los Que Son Son
San Francisco Symphony
...and many other diverse musical artists
As a cherished summer ritual with programming as diverse as the city it calls home, Stern Grove Festival presents a wide range of musical performances to 10,000 people every summer Sunday at 2 p.m.. Set in one of the country’s most beautiful natural settings, a distinctive aspect of the festival’s programming is to introduce local up-and-coming artists and emerging talents from around the globe to a broad audience.
The Big Picnic, an opening day benefit and concert, kicks off the season with an admission-free concert starring two music legends: multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson and GRAMMY® Award-winner Patti Austin. The Big Picnic begins with a ticketed benefit party followed by the admission-free concert at 2 p.m.
