Four jazz giants come together for an unforgettable week of divine musical alchemy. Bobby Hutcherson is an NEA Jazz Master and easily jazz’s most influential living vibraphonist. He was integral to the “Blue Note sound” of the 1960s and remains an enduringly vital artist, recording and performing worldwide. David Sanborn has been one of the most acclaimed saxophonists in jazz for over four decades. A six-time Grammy winner, his 30 albums as a leader encompass R&B, blues, ballads, post-bop and the avant-garde. Organ virtuoso Joey DeFrancesco is single-handedly responsible for the resurgence of the Hammond organ in jazz, leading over two dozen sessions and providing his fiery, soulful sound to recordings and tours with Miles Davis, Jimmy Smith and Ray Charles. Drumming icon Billy Hart has taken an incredible musical journey over his career, recording and performing with pianist Herbie Hancock’s groundbreaking Mwandishi sextet as well as associations with Miles Davis, pianist McCoy Tyner and saxophonist Stan Getz. With a sum even greater than its remarkable parts, this dream band takes over Miner Auditorium in support of their brand new Blue Note album.
