Katumbella was born in Luanda, capital of Angola, as the second of five children. At the age of 8, she discovered her voice and passion for music. While in Angola she joined the church choir until embracing on the journey to the United States to pursue her Bachelors degree in Accounting. After working with several groups and bands abroad, this Afro/R&B singer, started her solo career with the release of her hit single, “Don’t Hold Me” on January 6, 2012. Since then, Katumbella has been performing at international festivals, diplomatic and corporate events that have taken her all the way to perform in South Korea. Furthermore, she has sung background vocals for several artists including the famous Nigerian singer, Flavour N’Abania. Katumbella has also performed with Top Angolan artists such as, Pérola, Heavy C and Yuri da Cunha. Over the past two years she has worked her way into the African movie industry with the composition of various movie soundtracks, which earned her a nomination for Best Female Artist Diaspora and won her the Best Original Music Score Award. Her music is among the soundtracks for Lost In Abroad movie which was inducted into the libraries of many Ivy League schools; including Harvard, Yale, and Stanford University; as a reference material for African studies. Katumbella recently completed a soundtrack for the comedy movie, African Time which is slated for February 2014 release. She also made her acting debut in this film. Katumbella is currently working on her album, which release date will be announced soon.
