SF Giants to Host Finals of World Baseball Classic

The San Francisco Giants will host the semi-finals and finals of the World Baseball Classic at AT&T Park in March 17-19. This is San Francisco’s debut as the host city for the World Baseball Classic which draws teams from more than two dozen countries from around the globe to test their “brand” of baseball against the other.
Joe Torre, who won four World Series titles with the Yankees as part of a 29-year managerial career, will lead Team USA in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Larry Baer, San Francisco Giants President and CEO, stated, “The Giants are excited to have been selected by MLB to host the Championship Round of the World Baseball Classic. We believe that AT&T Park will be the perfect venue to showcase the best baseball players in the world as they represent their countries and compete in this one-of-a-kind international tournament. We look forward to bringing this international competition to one of the most international cities in the world!”

In 2013, the World Baseball Classic will join the Louis Vuitton Cup and America’s Cup Finals in attracting global attention to San Francisco as a world class sporting city.”
